Hurricanes Sled Hockey Casino Night

We are excited to kick off the 2018-2019 sled hockey season and we need your help and support to make this a successful year.

Join us on Friday, September 28th, for a night of Vegas style gaming, fun, food, drinks, live and silent auctions to help raise money for the Hurricanes Sled Hockey program.

The party this year has changed to a new venue, but will maintain the fun and casual atmosphere. Join us as we move to downtown Raleigh at Solas located at 419 Glenwood Ave.

We cannot wait to see everyone September 28th, 6:30pm - 11:00pm

For those of you that I haven’t had the opportunity to meet yet my name is Kris Kenney and I am the Program Director for Hurricanes Sled Hockey. I work hand in hand with Joe Ribar, Kelly Jacoby and Brian Jacoby to give those in the community with a physical disability the opportunity to play ice (sled) hockey

We are excited to be a part of the best hockey family in NC the JR Hurricanes and wanted to share with you our main fundraiser.
The money raised pays for ice, travel and equipment expense. We travel to 5-6 tournaments a year and send youth players to play tournaments with other programs working towards a full youth trace team. We support disabled youth, adults, military both active duty and veterans. Consider attending, bidding on auction items or donating to our program. Ask anyone who has attended our event in the past a great time is had by all.
Thank you in advance for your support and LET’S GO CANES!

Youth Hockey Players Battle in Raleigh

Raleigh, NC- 51 local Raleigh youth hit the ice on a hot summer weekend to attend Battle Camp August 3-5 at The Factory in Wake Forest. The young hockey players from 5 different hockey youth programs came together to learn the proper ways to give a check, take a check and battle for puck possession. The camp has been sponsored by RYHA for the past 5 years during the spring and summer: 3 day camp April, May and August. Coach Young invites local youth and coaches to assist and run drills to keep the camp active and safe. Ages range from 8 to 15,

Head instructor Mike Young uses on ice, off ice and classroom to create a learning atmosphere.  “I use the USA Hockey checking textbook to teach the proper techniques to win battles”, states Young. “And the kids seem to really love it! I know I look forward to the 3 sessions every summer as well.”

12U Wins NHL Youth Cup in a Shootout vs. Columbus

Congratulations to the 12U AAA PeeWee Major team for winning the NHL Youth Cup in an exciting overtime shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 at PNC Arena. The Canes won a rematch vs. the Blue Jackets after dropping the opening game to them 2-0. They then went on to beat Nashville 7-1, won 6-1 over the Islanders and a 4-0 must win over the Penguins to secure a spot in the final.

The Blue Jackets jumped to an early lead and scored with just 10 seconds into the opening period. Coach Steve Rice said “going down by a goal that quickly into the game could have been devastating, but the boys kept their composure and battled back. They also killed several crucial penalties and overcame adversity throughout the game.”

Kaden Wolitski won the tournament MVP finishing with 7 goals and one assist.

Congratulations again to all of the players and coaches!
